Been working alot as of recent and havent posted as much. A few weeks ago I attended a viewing party for A Johnny Cash Tribute Show. The talented Jessi Pagel did hair and makeup for some of the guest celebrities on the show. And while at this viewing party I saw a poster for a leukemia benefit the following week with a silent auction. Not thinking, I made a few things and ended up at the benefit. I thought to myself, I shall donate some of my goods to help out. Brilliant!!! Which is exactly what I did. The great folks over at The Warhorse Bar are by far the best folks to know. The owner Corey Oldham sets a standard above any other,And that is to set a hospitable and welcoming enviroment. The WarHorse Bar, in Austin, TX. Has live bands and is full of friendly folks. So if you are ever in Austin and want a place to cool off and enjoy a cold drink Head on ever to the WarHorse Bar.

It's has been a few weeks since I have posted and informed you all of current events. Last month on the 26th I worked with a talented crew for an ISES event. The extremely talented Jessi Pagel of FireMakeup Artistry did art direction, hair, and costumes. Mendy Hoffman did makeup, and I contributed with body paint & leather props. The models were Andie Miller, Heather Howes, & Garret Danks. Further photography was done by Cari Wible Photography. It was a great event to be a part of and full of fascinating folks. Thank you again FireMakeup Artistry & ISES. Here at El Animal Leather Works I like to say " stand out and be an individual. " One way of doing so is your keychain. Have something unique & personalized like your company logo put on a nice, fresh piece of dead hide. Or just purchase some of the already made keychains I have created. Either way, feel free to browse the gallery or email me for information regarding keychains.
For those of you out there who hold the state of Texas dear. I have made these custom leather saps which represent two Republic flags of the state. The Gonzalez Flag which has the cannon & " come and take it." The second flag is Colonel James Long's flag. The first of the Texas flags to have a Lone Star.
All my leather work is hand cut, hand dyed, hand painted, hand sewn, and crafted with pride in the wonderful state of Texas. If you would like to own a one of a kind leather piece made by me contact me via email. This is a keyfob that has been made as a self defense device. Modeled after the old time "slap jack" or "slapper". When used properly this keyfob can inflict a shock by merely slapping a persons hand with it. This product has been tested and will endure the rigors of daily life. Made with quality veg. tanned leather, this keyfob is sure to protect you as well as bring conversation to a boring event. Each piece is hand tooled, dyed, painted, hand sewn and made to last. If you would like one or have questions regarding the keyfob please contact me via email.
I have been working at an establishment in Texas for some time now. And as dull as it sometimes gets the one thing that always brings up my spirits is the preachings of Soul & Funk by none other that DJ Chicken George. His whole way of presenting a mood, is phenominal. Those who ask me " what is he like, is it house is it drum and bass?" I tell them this " if you expect something, don't, cause he is full of surprises." This bottle cover was a gift for the Preacher Man .. DJ Chicken George.

Texas has always true and dear to me. Amongst one of the greatest things Texas offered me was the great trails, street terrain that is always rideable and the great folks in the industry. As of mid 2000's I have slowed down on riding due to a blown knee. I still enjoy riding and support bmx. And in supporting the industry I have made a few leather pieces for some folks. From patches to keychains. If any of you folks are interested in purchasing some fine leather goods with your logo on them contact me.
So as of recent I have been making these. They are for self defense. They can also be a form of muscle conditioning. And believe it or not they too can be used for massaging. The term self defense can create a knot in one's throat. But realistically, these lil bad boys will create a knot on your head if you are not careful. By no means do I advocate violence but I do promote safety and security. I have sold these to women who work late and have a ways to walk to their vehicle or home. They are compact and with proper use can deter an assailant from assaulting you. The price of safety far out weights the price of an E.R. visit. Jack saps, slappers, and billy clubs were all forms of criminal deterrents since the 1800's. Through the years their reputation grew. It was only until recently (1990's) that most Police agencies retired the ol' style of criminal deterrent weapons and started the use of collapsable batons and taser weapons. I live in Texas, where having a gun and a rifle is you God given Birthright!! laws here are much different than other states. If you all are interested in these fine leather products do some research on your local laws before purchasing. |
